You can increase the difficulty in the settings, try ramping up inflation and running costs and/or enabling infrastructure costs. I will look for a way to place down buildings and then i can really get cooking on making beautiful cities and network in beween !ĮDIT 2 : Kudos to Poddster for mentionning which is basically THE answer to my query. I have also learned that, indeed most people simply sandbox, which is awesome as i feel i'm not missing the point. Tl dr : Is there a point to playing openTTD not in Sandbox/unlimited-money mode ?ĮDIT : Thank you for all the answers ! Have learned a lot about what settings/ newGRFs to use (I was using FIRS already along with a few recommended addition.)

I use signals but that too seems like idle work once past the "more than one train per line", I'm envious of huge synchronized stations i see in wallpapers or vids, but.what is the drive ?Īm.Am I playing the game wrong ? How do you keep it interesting when the mechanics are discouraging complexity ?

Now I know the point of the game is not to have the "biggest number" in the currency panel, but it's a bit demoralizing to move iron ore from a close mine to a close factory when it costs so much and brings so little, not only financially but also in terms of effect (i don't really see any industry or town growth).

#OPENTTD UNLIMITED MONEY FULL#
I really enjoy train, models, real life and openTTD, but sometimes i wonder if i'm missing the point of the game : The money system is such that if i send a single train accross 500 tiles, I get 200% of the train and maybe 2% of the total project cost (that's per trip, on a single full train) and i end up sitting on a mountain of cash.
